Pomella Pomegranate Extract is a breakthrough formula standardized to Punicalagins the primary natural antioxidants of the pomegranate fruit.
Punicalagins are the main Ellagitannin polyphenols and are among the most ferocious scavengers of free radicals. Punicalagins are unique in that they are further metabolised to bioactive compounds absorbed into target tissues. Punicalagins are also potent modulators of inflammation and cellular signalling.
It was found that metabolites (Ellagic acid) are not absorbed when consumed in free form and need to be attached to the parent polyphenol to be bioavailable. The remarkable synergy of punicalagins within the pomegranate’s natural spectrum of ellagitannins, explains the potency of Pomella Extract.
Anti-Glycation End Products (AGEs)
AGE’s are implicated in numerous age-related diseases. Research shows accumulation of AGEs in cartilage chondrocytes leads to decreased proteoglycan and collagen synthesis. This in turn leads to stiffness and brittleness of the articular cartilage.
