#1. Regular Exercises

Exercising regularly promotes blood circulation in the legs helping push blood that has collected in the veins. It also helps in lowering blood pressure which is a contributor to varicose veins.

Low-impact exercises such as gentle walking, yoga, cycling, swimming get your calf muscles to work without excessive strain.

Keeping your legs elevated, preferably above the heart or at the same height to improve circulation. This helps blood flow back to the heart easily by lessening the pressure in the leg veins. Keep your legs elevated if you sit down for long, such as during work or rest. Aim to move around or change position often to keep blood flowing uniformly. Avoid sitting with crossed legs as it limits blood flow and hinders circulation.

#2. Compression Stockings

Sorgen Compression Stockings are designed to apply graduated pressure to the legs. This supports the muscles and veins by moving the blood upwards toward the heart.

A study published in the European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery in 2018 found people wearing knee-high compression stockings for one week with the pressure of 18 to 21 mmHg reported decrease in pain and soreness related to varicose veins.

#3. Diet

Potassium-high foods reduce water retention in your body which otherwise causes the leg to swell. Almonds and pistachio nuts, leafy vegetables, lentils and beans, fish like salmon and tuna can reduce varicose veins. Eat foods containing flavonoids such as vegetables, citrus fruits, garlic improves blood circulation and makes it less likely for blood to pool in the veins. They are known to reduce blood pressure in the arteries and relax blood vessels. People who are overweight have increased chances to experience varicose veins. Losing excess weight can ease the pressure on the veins and to some extent, alleviate swelling and discomfort.

#4. Choose comfortably-fit clothing

Wearing tight-fitting clothes for too long can restrict blood flow. Your circulation will improve by wearing comfortable, loose clothes that do not interfere with the blood supply to the lower body. Opting for supportive, flat shoes instead of high heels for those long working hours may help with varicose veins in your legs.

#5. Massage

Delicately massaging the affected areas can ease movement of blood through the veins. You can use mild massage oils. Avoid pressing your veins directly aย  it may further damage fragile tissues.
